Picking up where he left off a year ago, defending champion Mika Koivuniemi took the first-round lead at the Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by Storm on Monday at Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas. The PBA and USBC Hall of Famer, who coaches the United Arab Emirates team, fired games of 203, 253, 300, 229, 234 and 246 for a 1,465 total on the challenging Marshall Holman 41 lane pattern, which had 30.91 mL of oil and a 2.49-1 ratio.
