For decades, the PBA Regional Players Invitational/National Resident Pro Championship was the carrot at the end of each year for the “weekend warriors” of the PBA. The inaugural RPI (then the NRPC) was won by Hall of Famer Tom Hennessey, a member of the fabled Budweiser's team, in Cincinnati in 1969, and a number of notable players won it through its demise after 2010, including Mike Scroggins in 1999 and Dick Allen in 2004.
