Since the U.S. Women’s Open looks to have its traditionally very challenging lane condition, last week’s PWBA Detroit Open likely was great preparation. The Detroit Open conditions were so tough only seven of the 120 players averaged 200 or better in qualifying. It was no surprise that USBC Hall of Famer Liz Johnson won the tournament, in the process showing she is primed to defend her U.S. Women’s Open title.
