Outside of the PBA Senior U.S. Open and USBC Senior Masters, I can’t remember ever bowling a burn squad in PBA50 Tour events I’ve bowled since turning 50 in 2012. But that was the format for this week’s PBA50 South Shore Open at Olympia Lanes in Hammond, Indiana, which was contested on the PBA50 Viper pattern. B squad had the burn in Tuesday’s first round and A squad had it Wednesday, and the lanes played just as I expected: wet-dry. That meant having the right ball...
