Being the qualifying leader at the USBC Queens can be likened to winning the Par 3 contest at golf’s Masters: No one has ever won the Par 3 and gone on to win the Masters in the same year and no one has ever been qualifying leader and gone on to win the Queens in the same year.
The qualifying leader hasn’t even made the stepladder finals of the Queens since 2016, and Erin McCarthy knew that when she averaged 237.4 to lead qualifying at the 2026 USBC Queens at Gold Coast Bowling...
