In a Madison Area Scratch Tour season dominated by first-time winners, Kevin Punzel became the latest with a win Sunday at Viking Lanes in Stoughton, MAST reported.
Punzel defeated Brian Hoffman 246-197 in the title match to earn $475. Hoffman won $261 for second.
In the first MAST event at Viking since 1992, 54 bowlers competed and the cut to the top 16 for match play was 909.
Todd Gille led qualifying with 1,038, but lost his first match to Rick Erce.
In the semifinals, Punzel beat Erce 237-231 and Hoffman defeated Greenfield 214-179. Third and fourth paid $172 each.

“The tournament was sponsored by Viking Lanes and Badger Pro Shop,” according to the MASt Facebook page. “Viking Lanes donated a portion of the lineage back to the prize fund and four $10 gift cards to the drawing. Badger Pro Shop donated a Virtual Gravity Nano at cost. The ball was won by Ron Blanchar who also won a gift card. The other gift cards were won by Dan Seppa, Kevin Punzel, and Brian Hoffman.”
