The 11th Frame: Update: USBC confirms 900 by California bowler

Update: USBC on Saturday confirmed the 900 in this Twitter post:"18-year-old two-hander Jimmy Schmitzer rolled 900 last night in Norco, CA. Formal approval pending. Would be 21st in history."

Here is the USBC news release on Schmitzer's 900 posted Tuesday. And here is a YouTube video of the last three strikes of Schmitzer's 900.

I saw some reports Saturday morning at various places on the Internet about another 900 series being shot Friday night, so I posted a question asking for details on my Facebook page.

John Foltz then posted this: "Two hander, Jimmy Schmitzer. Norco, CA at a Brunswick facility. 18 years old with a VG Nano."

A Google search for Jimmy Schmitzer turned up a big-time college football recruit from Texas of that name, but also this on Storm's website about a young bowler of that name shooting 300s and an 800.

Rich Timmons sent me an email saying he was on adjacent pair and watched Schmitzer's 900.

Timmons said he watched every shot starting midway through the second game by Schmitzer and, "The ONLY shot I saw in his last 20 or so that was marginal was a slightly high hit in the second game that took out the 4-9.  His last 12 shots were nails."

It was just April 12 that John Martorella Sr. rolled a 900 series at Domm’s Bowling Center in Greece N.Y.

Here is the blog I did on that 900, with details on past 900s, both certified, questioned and unjustly unrecognized.
