Anita Manns maintained her lead through the second round of qualifying as the 131-bowler field was cut to 64 Saturday at the 2012 United States Bowling Congress Queens, USBC reported.
Manns averaged 206 in the second round and ended her 10 games of qualifying at 2,265, a 226.5 average and 14 pins ahead of Diandra Asbaty of Chicago, according to this USBC news release.
"I definitely thought the scores were going to be a lot higher on the last squad, but I know they were tough out there," Manns said in the release. "So, I'm surprised (to be leading), but happy all at the same time."
Kelly Kulick finished third at 2,242, and Lindsay Baker fourth at 2,236.
The 64 who advanced bowl five more games on Sunday, with the top 47 then joining defending champion Missy Parkin in the double-elimination match-play bracket. Ultimately, the top five players will advance to the stepladder finals live on ESPN2 on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Central time.
USBC will provide live webcasts of match play on BowlTV with the tireless Lucas Wiseman heading straight from the college championships in Nebraska to the Queens in Texas.
The Queens page is here and full results after two rounds are here.
The match play bracket will be posted here after Sunday's final five games of qualifying.
