Not to say I told you so, but I told you so.
In this blog Friday, I predicted that Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch Jr. would be a force on the PBA Senior Tour this year.
On Sunday, Boresch opened his Senior career with a perfect game and cruised to a first-round total of 1,979 for eight games (247.3 average), good for third behind four-time Senior Tour Player of the Year Tom Baker’s 2,064 and reigning Player of the Year Ron Mohr’s 2,045 in the high scoring Senior Sun Bowl In The Villages presented by Storm.
Of course, it’s just the first round of qualifying in his first event, but that’s exactly the kind of performance to expect from Boresch as a senior.
Boresch and Baker will be inducted into the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame on Thursday.
“I can’t remember when I bowled a block like that,” Baker, 57, said in this PBA news release. “It’s was one of those blocks where you have everything going for you. I had the right equipment, my timing was good and I had good carry and you can’t ask for more than that.”
After another 8-game qualifying round Monday, the 157-player field will be cut to the top 32 for match play Tuesday.
Madison Bowling Association Hall of Famer Joel Carlson is seventh at 1,943. Dale Traber of Cedarburg is 20th at 1,865.
