Reigning PBA Senior Tour Player of the Year Ron Mohr doesn’t appear to have lost a thing since his dominating 2011 season.
With a strong second round Monday that included a perfect game, Mohr led qualifying at the PBA Senior Sun Bowl In The Villages presented by Storm with a 16-game total of 3,894 (243.3 average), PBA reported.
The top 32 players out of the 157-bowler field move into match play Tuesday, with the top eight receiving two byes and ninth through 16th one bye.
“The (lane condition) pattern played a little different today,” Mohr said in this PBA news release. “I got off to a great start the first four games but then I was starting to make some bad adjustments. Overall, I probably scored better than I bowled. The conditions change each day and we’re prepared for that. Tomorrow will be another day of challenges. I’ll have a good breakfast, a light workout, and then head to the lanes.”
Tom Carter of Rockford, Ill., was 35 pins behind Mohr in second.
Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch Jr. earned two byes at seventh with 3,806 in his Senior Tour debut. Boresch is being inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Madison Bowling Association Hall of Famer Joel Carlson of Omaha, Neb., earned one bye in 14th at 3,764, as did long-time Milwaukee area resident Brian Brazeau of Ocala, Fla., in 15th at 3,763.
Dale Traber of Cedarburg was 19th at 3,744.
Others making match plaay included four-time Senior Player of the Year Tom Baker, Walter Ray Williams Jr., and Senior Tour rookies Bob Learn Jr. and Amleto Monacelli.
