Chris Gibbons has made several runs at Eagles over the years at the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships (formerly the American Bowling Congress Tournament).

His closest calls were a second in team in 1991 and a third in team all-events in 2008 when his Team Pabst crew led for a few weeks before being knocked off late in the tournament.

2012 will go down as another great Open Championships for Gibbons, even though a title won’t happen, as he left Baton Rouge in 7th in all-events, eighth in doubles and 11th in team.

Team Pabst fired 3,219 in team on Sunday, with Gibbons leading at 696 (249-238-209), as I blogged here.

On Monday Gibbons blasted a 760 (279-265-216) in doubles and combined with Scott Erickson’s 650 (187-241-222) for 1,410, then added 633 (189-241-203) in singles for 2,089 all-events.

Erickson finished with 1,966 all-events, Jeff Prein 1,847, Kevin Thompson 1,795, and Troy Cox 1,767.
