Hall of Famer Wayne Webb retained his lead as qualifying ended Tuesday and the top 32 headed into Wednesday’s bracketed match play at the PBA Senior Mooresville Classic presented by Columbia, PBA reported.
Webb led with 3,969 for the 16 games of qualifying (248 average), which included a 299 in Monday’s first round and a 300 in Tuesday’s second round.
“I put my experience with equipment to good use the past two days,” Webb said in this PBA news release. “One of my strengths is having an idea of what equipment to use to sometimes create something that isn’t there and get the desired results.”
Webb held a huge 181-pin lead over Mike Henry, with Bob Learn Jr. another 77 pins back in third/
The top eight earned two byes and ninth through 16th one bye.
Madison Bowling Association Hall of Famer Joel Carlson of Omaha, Neb., qualified in 23rd at 3,435.
Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch finished 46th for $900 at 3,314, 68 pins shy of 32nd. Paul Mielens of Menomonie earned a $700 Super Senior (age 60 and older) with 3,191, tying for 73rd.
Brothers Dale and Darryl Traber did not cash.
