Kenosha’s Lennie Boresch Jr. led qualifying and Cedarburg’s Dale Traber was 14th heading into Thursday’s match play at the PBA Senior Dayton Classic, PBA reported.
Those positions earned Boresch two byes and Traber one bye.
Boresch, who won the first Senior Tour stop of the season in his senior debut and finished 46th last week, totaled 3,869 for 16 games (241.8 average) to lead by 16 pins over Sammy Ventura.
“Everything continued to match up well with the conditions today,” Boresch said in this PBA news release. “I had the right ball and was pretty much able to throw the same shot for the first part of the block and then toward the end I just had to tweak my angle to the pocket and finished pretty well.
“You just have to come out here with an open mind, forget about last week and continue to make good shots like I have been the last two days. Based on what I’ve learned in qualifying I feel I’m as well-prepared as I can be for match play.”
Reigning Senior Player of the Year Ron Mohr was third at 3,852, Bo Goergen fourth at 3,829, and Senior Dayton Classic defending champion Hugh Miller at 3,815.
