The sixth annual Hammer Junior Hall of Fame tournament is set for Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at AMF Bowlero Lanes in Wauwatosa, and organizer Shannon Labinski is aiming to increase the field to a stunning 108 teams.

There were 72 teams last year. Here is my blog on last year’s tournament, which was won by adult Geri Anderson-Hoefs and juniors Robert Corragio and Payne Fakler.

Juniors compete for scholarship prize money — with 108 teams, first will pay $1,500 out of $10,000 in total scholarship money.

One in 2.5 junior teams will cash with $900 for second, $750 for third, down to $100 for 25th through 48th (based on 108 teams).

The entry fee is $70 for each 2-junior team ($35 per bowler and juniors must enter as a 2-person team). The adult Hall of Fame member or celebrity will draw their teams the day of the tournament

The youth female and male bowler rolling the most pins over their average during qualifying will win the $50 Adam Schultz and Jennifer Krueger Scholarship Awards.

Adults will be able to enter pot games, brackets and men's/women's sweepers.

Half of the adult bracket fees and a portion of each sweeper entry will be added to the scholarship fund. Raffles also will raise scholarship money.

The format has been adjusted so all teams bowl three games of qualifying and two games of Baker format, with top 48 teams based on total pins plus the juniors' handicap advancing to the next round.

The next two rounds are 2-game Baker format matches, with pins carrying over and the top 24 and then the top five advancing.

Those five then compete in a stepladder finals of one-game Baker matches with the adult bowling frames 1, 4, 7 and 10 and the youths bowling 2-5-8 and 3-6-9.

Handicap for the juniors is 85 percent based on a 220 average.

Labinski is looking for any Hall of Fame members in the region who are willing to participate. She can be reached at shannonkay34@yahoo.com or 414-916-0411.

I've always had conflicts that prevented me from taking part and that will be the case again this year as I am working that weekend, but I've heard nothing but great things about this event and I hope to make it some year in the future!
