Oneota Lanes in Decorah, Iowa is hosting the Spring Fling 9-pin tap team tournament the weekends of March 15-17 and 22-24, proprietor Jim Salisbury announced.
The 5-person mixed tournament — which is sponsored by the Miller Brewing Company, United Beverage and The American Bowling Consortium — paid out a $3,000 top prize and $6,600 prize fund last year, Salisbury said. The entry fee is $150 per team.
Squads are at 9 p.m. on Fridays; noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays; and noon and 4 p.m. on Sundays. The tournament director reserves the right to extend the tournament one weekend if entries warrant.
The format is 9-pin tap with each team rolling four games and each player tossing out their low game. Handicap is 90 percent based off of 220. Bowlers will be subject to rerating by the tournament director and all disputes will be resolved by the tournament director.
Re-entries are allowed but two of the five bowlers must be different in order to cash.
A modified house condition is used and the playing surface is wood.
Last year, 43 teams entered and the “Zippers” from Festina, Iowa won the tournament.
