James Corman, Matt Smith and Rick Erce fired perfect games, and Kayla Klink slammed a 705 series to highlight Madison area bowling on Friday.
Corman’s first career 300 came in a 748 series in the Schwoegler’s St. James League.
Smith’s seventh career 300 came in a 737 in the Prairie Lanes Classic League.
Erce’s eighth career 300 came in a 714 in the Dream Lanes Moonlight League.
Klink’s 705 was her fourth 700 of the season and it came in the Schwoegler’s Gypsies League.
Two men fell a pin shy of perfection: Chuck Casio’s 299 came in a 742 in the Waun-A-Bowl Thundercats League and Scott Brown’s 299 came in a 665 in the Sport Bowl Businessmen’s League.
Sean Short had the top series on Thursday with a 757 in the Schwoegler’s Gypsies.
Bradley Thompson was next with 756 in the Prairie Groundhog League, followed by Geoff Hauge with 755 in the Prairie Classic and Jim Fosdick with 752 in the Dream MARBA League.
Lu Burmeister was second for the women on Thursday with a 622 in the Spartan Bowl Waubesa Mixed League.
For those competing in Storm's GuessTheScore contest, I led the Ten Pin Alley Bullseye Masters League with a 710 on the Team USA Mexico City Sport pattern.
I might have had a lot more except that lane 4 had some trouble turning on so we lost some practice time and it took me two face shots and an open on lane 3 before I realized it was hooking 8-and-5 — yes, that much — more. I recovered for a 206 with a weak 10-pin in the 10th frame on a double going in.
With my high-pin, 90-degree, 1,500 Turbo Sandbagger-roughed Storm MARVEL providing me a good reaction again on Mexico City, I ran an 8-bagger after a couple of early 9-spares on pocket hits in game two for 268.
I started game three with a six-bagger before leaving a light 7-pin and missing it. I couldn’t double the rest of the game and finished with 236 for 710.
I started going straight up about 7-board on lane 4 and with a slight swing crossing about 12-board on lane 3. By the end of the night, I was crossing about 16-board on lane 3 and 15-board on lane 4 with a slight swing, so the lanes almost caught up to each other.
Jay Heinzelman had the other 700 in the league Thursday with a 705 as 14 of the league’s 40 bowlers scored 625 or higher.
