Sun Prairie boys maintain lead, La Follette/McFarland/Memorial and Monona Grove move into tie for girls lead after Week 10 of Madison area high school bowling

The Sun Prairie boys maintained their lead and the La Follette/McFarland/Memorial and Monona Grove girls moved into a tie for the lead after Monday’s 10th week of Wisconsin District 4 High School Bowling at Village Lanes in Monona and Dream Lanes.

Eleven boys varsity, three boys junior varsity, and four girls teams are competing this year. For varsity only, there were 11 and five last season, and prior to that it was 11 and six, and 12 and six.  

The competition features nine games of Baker format each week.

For the boys, Sun Prairie has 90.5 points and Sauk Prairie/Poynette is second with 72.5.

For the girls, La Follette/McFarland/Memorial and Monona Grove are tied with 52.5 points each, Sun Prairie is third with 50.5 and Marshall/Cambridge fourth with 44.5

For boys on Monday, La Follette had the high series of 1,932 and DeForest the high game of 290.

For girls, Marshall/Cambridge had the high series and game with 1,698 and 235.

Andrew Olson of Sun Prairie and Michael Powley and Mason Schellin of Sun Prairie JV Red led the boys in fill percentage with 100 percent each.

Caitlin Powers of Marshall/Cambridge, Mrylena Stewart of La Follette/McFarland/Memorial, and Maddie Weasner of Verona led the girls in fill percentage at 94 percent each.

For the season, Olson leads the boys at 93.71 percent and Allison Dempski of Marshall/Cambridge tops the girls with 85.47 percent.

The top five boys and top three girls in fill percentage, plus the singles tournament champions, qualify for the State Singles Tournament.
