It’s long been the theory of the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships that you shouldn’t bowl early in the tournament so you have a chance to gather information on what lane play strategies and ball choices are working.
That theory only grew in importance with USBC’s unfortunate move to hide lane patterns the past couple of years.
