As he headed west from Iowa in early September, Tom Hess was having a solid year of bowling that still fell short of his goals as he had not won a PBA50 Tour title in his (delayed from 2020) rookie year. Before the month was over, Hess had won the PBA Senior U.S. Open and USBC Senior Masters, earning PBA50 Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.
