E.J. Tackett cruised to a dominating 502-pin margin in earning the top seed for Sunday’s stepladder finals of the 2022 U.S. Open and just needs to win one more game to claim the title. History has not been kind to many who have walked in such shoes before. Earl Anthony led the U.S. Open by 578 pins in 1979 and 551 pins in 1980, only to lose both title matches, and fellow legendary Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. led the U.S. Open by 537 pins in 1993, only to lose the title match....
