Madison area high school bowling kicks off season

The Wisconsin District 4 High School Bowling season kicked off Monday at Ten Pin Alley in Fitchburg.

Eleven boys varsity, three boys junior varsity, and four girls teams are competing this year. For varsity only, there were 11 and five last season, and prior to that it was 11 and six, and 12 and six.  

The competition features nine games of Baker format each week.

For the boys, Sun Prairie won 10 points and is a point ahead of La Follette after the first week.

For the girls, Monona Grove scored seven points and is two ahead of Marshall/Cambridge and La Follette/McFarland/Memorial.

For boys, Sun Prairie had the high series with 1,810 and Sun Prairie JV Red the high game with 247.

For girls, Monona Grove had the high series and game with 1,593 and 224.

Two boys tied for the lead in fill percentage at 100 percent: Quinn Sheehy of Sun Prairie and Riley Allen of Monona Grove.

Allison Dempski led the girls in fill percentage with 94 percent.
