It’s fitting that the bowler with arguably the most effective strike ball in today’s game led Saturday’s qualifying at the always high-scoring Proprietors Cup at Beaver Vu Bowl in Beavercreek, Ohio. Jakob Butturff averaged 250.83 for 12 games as he rolled 3-game sets of 749, 730, 752 and 779 for 3,010 overall to edge fellow PBA Tour star Tommy Jones by six pins. Butturff’s games on the modified house shot were 224, 246, 279, 247, 266, 217, 268, 248, 236, 268, 246...
