As I detailed in this story, the United States Bowling Congress adopted new ball specification rules in April and then modified them in June to make the new weight limit and hole rule optional on Aug. 1. Starting Aug. 1, 2018, bowlers have been able to choose between the long-standing static weight rule of a maximum 3 ounces of top/bottom and 1 ounce of side/finger/thumb weight with or without a weight hole, or a maximum 3 ounces of top/bottom/side/finger/thumb with no weight hole allowed....
