The District 9A boys/co-ed team and District 4 (Madison area) girls team won the titles at Saturday’s HSBC All Star Team Challenge at Classic Lanes Fox Valley in Neenah, the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin reported in this post.

The event, which closes the state high school bowling season, drew 13 boys/co-ed teams and 12 girls teams totaling 125 bowlers competing for $1,700 in scholarships. Each member of the winning team earned $100 in scholarship funding.

The format was three traditional team games and 10 Baker format games, with the top three teams in each division advancing to stepladder finals, which featured 2-game Baker matches. The tournament was contested on the Kegel Sunset Strip 3240 lane pattern, which offers a good challenge as it is just slightly softer than the traditional Sport level of 3-1 ratio or lower.

In the boys/co-ed division, District 3A led qualifying with 4,723, District 9A was second at 4,696, and District 8 third with 4,590.

In the stepladder, 9A beat 8 438-410 and then 3A 411-397 to win the title.

In the girls division, District 4 led qualifying with 4,559, District 8 was second at 4,552, and District 9 was third with 4,512.

In the stepladder, 8 defeated 9 326-288 and 4 then beat 8 350-326 to win the title.

Scholarships also were awarded in singles, which was based on the three traditional qualifying games, with $200 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third.

The champions were Jacob Zondlak of Harborside Academy (District 3A) with 694 and Skye Derks of Bay Port (District 8) with 628.

For boys, Dylan Henrickson of Green Bay SW (District 8) was second, and Hunter Greifenhagen of Wisconsin Dells (District 9A) and Nolan Lemke of Peshtigo (District 8) tied for third.

For girls, Skylar Bricco of Amherst (District 9) was second, and Alyssa Henrickson of Green Bay (District 8) was third.

BCAW thanked 900 Global for its sponsorship and for bringing 2017 PWBA Rookie of the Year Daria Pajak to the All Star Team Challenge: “Fans enjoyed watching her throw some shots to increase the number of balls to be raffled from four to seven.”
