After the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001, the only sporting event I know of that went on that week in the U.S. was the conclusion of the PWBA Paula Carter Classic in Florida that had started before the attacks. The TV finals had been scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 11, but were delayed to Thursday and then Friday, according to this story by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
