As I wrote in my story on who I voted for in the PBA Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year voting, I chose Matt Russo over Zac Weidman mainly because Russo was the only rookie to win a PBA Tour title. I wrote: Weidman actually led the rookie nominees in points, money, and average, and would have gotten my vote if Russo hadn’t won, but winning is what it’s about: players are described as “8-time champion” or whatever it may be, not “7,800-points earner”...
