2022 Madison Area USBC Masters and Queens set for Sunday, Jan. 2 at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes, with qualifying hiked to 5 games

The 2021-22 Madison Area USBC Masters and Queens return or the first time 2019-20 with an increase to five games of qualifying.

The two tournaments will be held simultaneously on Sunday, Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at Bowl-A-Vard Lanes in Madison, followed by a challenge match for the winners sponsored by 11thFrame.com.

Qualifying was cut to four games in 2019-20, after being six in the past.

After qualifying, the fields are cut to the top eight with 1-in-4 cashing.

The entry fee for both the Masters and Queens is $45, with $28 to the prize fund, $15 to lineage, and $2 expense fee.

Based on 50 entries and $500 in sponsorship for the Masters, first will be $351, second $239, third and fourth $159 each, fifth through eighth $106 each, and ninth through 16th $71 each.

Based on 30 entries and $500 in sponsorship for the Queens, first will be $353, second $239, third and fourth $160 each, and fifth through eighth $107 each.

The challenge match for the winners will be $100 winner take all.

The Masters is scratch and the Queens is 100 percent handicap based on 220 with a maximum of 50 pins per game.

The lane pattern will be the very low volume 2019-20 State Tournament pattern used at Bowl-A-Vard. The pattern was 41 feet with 20.45 mL of oil and a middle-outside track ratio of 8.2-1.

The defending champions are Chris Gibbons and Lauren Sammel, with Gibbons winning the challenge match.
