PBA Tour re-instituting ball hardness checks, but only for TV finalists

Young PBA players may find it amusing when us old-timers talk about the days when every bowling ball a player used was weighed, tested for hardness and recorded on a card before it could be used, and then had to be checked for hardness if you cashed. In the latest fallout from the controversy spurred by the success of the PURPLE HAMMER, PBA players who make TV finals are going to get a small taste of ball checks thanks to a new rule that I first learned of in Tuesday’s Beef & Barnzy...
