The 2022 U.S. Open that starts Tuesday at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis should provide a typically formidable challenge, with the toughest challenge coming in the second round of qualifying when a flat pattern is put out. That’s the same round for a flat pattern as 2021, while it was the third round in 2020, and the first round in 2019.
