The fourth pattern of the four used for the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open is by far the most important, since it’s used for 32 of the 56 games and the stepladder finals, while each of the first three patterns are used for just one 8-game qualifying block each. I’d find the Opens far more interesting if the cashers round was on the fourth pattern, and then the first three were repeated for the three blocks of round-robin match play.
