Pick any superlative you prefer and it can apply to Anthony Simonsen’s performance in going undefeated in match play to earn the top seed of the 2023 USBC Masters.
As the defending champion, Simonsen was guaranteed a spot in the double-elimination match play brackets, and said he spent some of the 15 games of qualifying experimenting with different ball and lane play strategies. And still he qualified 29th at 3,265, a 217.66 average.
