Back in April, USBC announced that it will certify string pinsetters and string pin bowling as a&nbsp;separate&nbsp;category of equipment and competition effective Aug. 1, 2023, the start of the 2023-24 season, as I detailed in this lengthy story.

From what I saw, bowling on the latest string pinsetters is more of a “pure” bowling experience: finesse and accuracy to get the ball flush in the pocket matter more than power — more like how it was in the era I grew up in.
