WBST Over 40/Under 40 Doubles renamed to the Terry Kulibert Memorial, aka The Koolie

My friend and former doubles partner Terry Kulibert was one of Wisconsin’s all-time great bowlers before health problems robbed him of some of his skills, which eventually led him to become one of Wisconsin’s all-time great tournament operators.

Kulibert died June 1, but he certainly won’t be forgotten by Wisconsin bowlers.

Kulibert’s most notable tournament was the Wisconsin Scratch Bowlers Tour Over 40/Under 40 Doubles annually held on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend in the Fox Valley.

Appropriately, the popular tournament that always draws a huge field of high-level bowlers from Wisconsin and other states is being renamed in his honor.

The 2026 Terry Kulibert Memorial Over 40/Under 40 Doubles, aka The Koolie, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at Revs Bowl Bar & Grill, 275 N. Washburn St. in Oshkosh.

The doubles format is four games of qualifying followed by 1-game matches, with one-third of the field making the cut and cashing — 32 teams advance with the maximum 90 entries. Byes will be awarded to higher seeds if needed.

Ties for finals spots after qualifying will go to the team that had the highest team game during qualifying. Even if there is a tie for a finals spot that will receive a bye in a round, the tie will be broken by highest team game. If there is a tie for the last spot in the finals, there will be a 9th & 10th frame roll-off for that spot by all bowlers involved on a neutral pair of lanes, if available.

After the quarterfinals, the final four teams will be seeded for a stepladder based on total scores of all game bowled during the tournament.

At least one bowler must be over 40 years old (both can be over 40). Only one PBA member is allowed per duo.

The entry fee is $150 per bowler ($120 to the prize fund, $30 to lineage and expense) and first prize is $3,000 based on 72 teams, and it will be $4,000 with 90, as it has been several times. The tournament will only go beyond 72 teams if there are 80 entries in advance of the tournament.

The tournament has more than $2,000 in added money. There also is plenty of side action.

A $150 deposit is required to hold a spot. Payments can be made directly to tournament director Brittany Schwartz of Revs, dropped off at Revs, or via the Revs website at bowlrevs.com. Schwartz can be contacted at Brittany@bowlrevs.com.
