Ryan Shafer's lead narrowed and the man who may be the world's best bowler right now moved from 14th to third in the first round of match play at the U.S. Open. Australian two-hander Jason Belmonte started match play in 14th place and 397 pins behind Shafer but went 6-1-1 in Friday's match play block and moved up to third, just 101 pins behind.
