Update: Broken shoe fixed, Wisconsin bowler goes from 483 in doubles to 785 and lead in singles at Open Championships

In the 1991 ABC Tournament (now the USBC Open Championships) in Toldeo, Ohio, my teammate Bret Faulkner did something so unthinkable I would have had trouble believing it if I hadn’t seen it: he went from 486 in doubles to 819 in singles.
Actually, I somewhat caused it as I got him to switch from a shiny Brunswick Black Phantom to a rough surface Red Hammer in the last couple of frames of doubles.
That gave him some hook and loosened his swing and the next thing you know he was blasting...
