In the 1991 ABC Tournament (now the USBC Open Championships) in Toldeo, Ohio, my teammate Bret Faulkner did something so unthinkable I would have had trouble believing it if I hadn’t seen it: he went from 486 in doubles to 819 in singles. Actually, I somewhat caused it as I got him to switch from a shiny Brunswick Black Phantom to a rough surface Red Hammer in the last couple of frames of doubles.
