PBA returns a serious TOC boost to Regional program
PBA if offering a new incentive similar to the old NRPC/NRPI program that will result in a Regional competitor — touring pros who bowl in Regionals are eligible this time — making the redesigned PBA Tournament of Champions or getting a TOC eligibility boost.
For the roughly two decades that I bowled a full schedule of PBA Regionals, my focus was always on making the National Resident Pro Championship/National Regional Players Invitational team. I made the Midwest Region team in 1986 and 1987 and then every year from 1991 through about 2007 (I’m not exactly sure of the final year). The guys who made the Regional teams got paid trips to places like Phoenix, Corpus Christi, Houston, Reno (of course), and even Hawaii twice. Not a bad carrot,...
