The Syracuse, N.Y., area will invest $3.3 million to get the 2018 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, but get back much more thanks to spending by competitors and guests, Syracuse.com reported in this story. Onondaga County will pay a $1.8 million hosting fee — $500,000 when the contract is signed and $1.3 million in 2018, with the $500,000 refundable if the tournament is not held for some reason, according to the report.
