As soon as it was confirmed that there would be just one oiling for the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open and three squads, it was clear the pattern logically could not be the flat, medium length pattern of the past decade-plus. Doing so would have meant a train wreck of historic proportions, since with a flat pattern and just one burn squad in recent U.S. Opens under PBA there has been plenty of gutter cap lofting.
