With German Birgit Poppler leading, USBC Queens leaderboard illustrates globalization of sport

The growing globalization of bowling is not new news, but anyone who doubts the strength of the trend should take a look at the top of the leaderboard of the 2016 United States Bowling Congress Queens.
In just the top 11 after Sunday’s second round of qualifying, there is a bowler from Germany, three from Singapore, one from Poland, one from Sweden, one from Malaysia, one from Latvia, and just three from the U.S.
