Anyone who knew even the basics of the PBA Tour structure had to be pessimistic when the organization lost its millions in TV rights fees from ABC in the 1990s. Putting on tournaments with live TV finals week after week for much of the year was an unsustainable business model without those hefty rights fees, and absent the kind of big sponsors PBA did not have.
