When I interviewed Jakob Butturff in December at the World Series of Bowling, my aim was to tell the story of a bowler who had risen from virtual unknown to record-setting PBA Champion in 18 months. Before I could write the story, the lefty with the quirky but devastating style twice made news that necessitated follow-up interviews: switching from 900 Global to Columbia 300 at the start of 2017 and then winning the Team USA Trials just days later.
