One of the much-discussed problems with the&nbsp;new 3-division format for the 2017 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships&nbsp;is what it may do to brackets.
The addition of the Standard division means that brackets will be split three ways and by age, rather than two ways and by age, as has been the case.

Another interesting new product for 2017 is called “sorted brackets,” which will be offered by division and during team event only. Sorted brackets work just like traditional 8-person brackets, with the twist that all competitors’ scores are sorted from highest score to lowest score, rather than going in the order they were bowled.
