Nick Pate and Sydney Brummett on Wednesday grabbed the opening round leads at the 2017 Team USA Trials at Sunset Station in suburban Las Vegas, the United States Bowling Congress reported. Pate, a senior at Midland University in Nebraska, used a Hammer SCANDAL and REBEL in rolling games 245, 244, 175, 289, 278 and 232 for a 1,463 total, while Brummett, who competes for Wichita State, chained games 288, 230, 213, 245, 194 and 223 for a 1,393 total.
