College bowling atmosphere offers ramped-up intensity

When I bowled in the FIQ American Zone Championships in Bogota, Colombia, in 1985, I didn’t think I’d ever see anything like it again.
Then I attended the giant Hoosier Classic college tournament last month in Indianapolis.
In most serious competition, anyone making too much noise — even if it’s cheering — is looked at as doing something wrong, perhaps even unsportsmanlike.
