On a lane pattern in which just 25 of the 83 players could average 200 or better, Clara Guerrero averaged more than 223 to take a hefty 78-pin lead over Daphne Tan in Friday’s qualifying at the 2017 PWBA Fountain Valley Open. Guerrero rolled games of 220, 226, 246, 186, 266 and 248 for 1,392 in the first round and then 214, 221, 200, 218, 201 and 224 for 1,287 in the second round, giving her a 12-game total of 2,679 (223.25 average) at Fountain Bowl in Fountain Valley, California.
