When Jacob Boresch shot 2,122 all-events on March 3-4 as the 2017 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships was just getting started, I wrote in this story what was obvious: there was no way to tell the significance of his total. I said his score may have a chance to win, but listed the factors working against him, including that bowlers going later would have much more information about this year’s hidden lane patterns and the fact that the last time 2,122 or less won...
