Sun Prairie boys maintain lead, La Follette/McFarland/Memorial girls regain lead after Week 7 of Madison area high school bowling

The Sun Prairie boys maintained their lead and the La Follette/McFarland/Memorial girls regained the lead after Monday’s seventh week of Wisconsin District 4 High School Bowling at Viking Lanes in Stoughton and Waun-A-Bowl in Waunakee.

Ten boys varsity, four boys junior varsity, and four girls teams are competing this year. For varsity only, there were 11 and five last season, and prior to that it was 11 and six, and 12 and six.  

The competition features nine games of Baker format each week.

For the boys, Sun Prairie has 63.5 points and Monona Grove is second with 47.5.

For the girls, La Follette/McFarland/Memorial has 39.5 points and Monona Grove has 36.5.

The top two Division 1 and top Division 2 boys teams and top Division 1 and top Division 2 girls teams will advance to the State Tournament.

For the boys on Monday, Sun Prairie had the high series and games with 1,997 and 263.

For the girls, Sun Prairie had the high series and game with 1,595 and 219.

Andrew Olson of Sun Prairie and Burke Murphy of Stoughton led the boys in fill percentage with 100 percent.

Mrylena Stewart of La Follette/McFarland/Memorial led the girls in fill percentage at 100 percent.

For the season, Quinn Sheehy of Sun Prairie leads the boys at 95.04 percent and Allison Dempski of Marshall/Cambridge tops the girls with 88.8 percent.

The top five boys and top three girls in fill percentage, plus the singles tournament champions, qualify for the State Singles Tournament.

The singles tournament is Dec. 27 at Prairie Lanes.

Regular competition resume Jan. 8 at Dream Lanes and Schwoegler’s Entertainment Center.
